History
Learn a few details about our past.
St. Martin’s-in-the-Field is blessed by a 7 acre campus that was donated in 1954 by Mrs. C. T. Marston. The original church building, now called Heck Hall, was completed in 1955. St. Martin’s-in-the-Field was officially approved as an independent parish at the Diocesan Convention of 1956, with the Reverend Lewis Heck as its vicar.
Our parishioners have a rich history of participation. We were recognized as Parish of the Year in 2002 by the Diocese of Maryland, a fitting testament to the spirit and commitment at work at St. Martin’s. In November 2005, we passionately celebrated our jubilee anniversary and we press on into our next century with the great expectation and hope of knowing and serving God more fully.
