Adult Formation

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Adult Formation's leaders believe we might more accurately be called Adult Transformation, for that is exactly what we aim to encourage.  Our hope is that in conversation with your fellow travelers along the path to faith, you will move closer to God.  We offer Bible studies for those who haven't a clue; those who wish to widen their meager knowledge; and those for whom Bible study is a way of life.  There are also current book studies, often by provocative authors that seek to help us articulate our own beliefs.  We hope you'll choose to engage your mind as you come to know God.

Following are just some of the Adult Formation offerings at St. Martin's-in-the-Field.  Unless otherwise indicated, all are open for you to attend as you are able.

Adult Forum: Held during the Christian Education hour each week in the Parish Hall, interested folks will gather for conversation on a variety of topics of interest to the Church and in the world.

Scott Slater, from the Diocesan office, talks with parishioners during the Christian Education hour May 22, 2011

Wednesdays Together:  Held most Wednesdays. Dinner is at 6pm followed at 7pm by a great selection of discussions, classes, worship and more. Come for dinner, come for classes or come for both. It's your choice. The cost for the catered dinner is $7.50 per person with a family limit of $20. Please call or email Allan Andrews to make a reservation so we can plan accurately for dinner. Dinners are followed by a number of class choices that change seasonally.
Contact the office for information regarding classes, forums, and more.

Education For Ministry (EFM): Mondays, 7:00pm -  A four year program of theological education that covers the basics of education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology. Students meet regularly, usually once a week, in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors to reflect together on the place of their learnings within their daily lives.  Send email to Allan Andrews to register.

Men’s Bible Study: Usually held weekly.  Contact the church office for the topics and schedule.

Shepherd Group: Thursday afternoons - This is a group of parishioners who gather weekly on Thursday afternoons to reflect on Sunday’s readings of scripture. No weekly commitment needed, come when you can. Contact Sylvia Marston at 410-647-7493 for time and location.
