Hospitality
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.
When newcomers grace our doors looking for something, someone larger than themselves, we have an amazing cadre of parishioners who draw them in: Ushers, Greeters, each and every member of St. Martin’s! Ushers welcome everyone, then lead newcomers to the Welcome Center where our Greeters (especially at 9am) learn about our newcomers' hopes. As important as this piece of our welcome is, in truth, it is each of our members that ultimately receives and integrates our guests into our community. Our hope is to discover the touch- points between our visitor's lives and ours and then make them feel at home by guiding them in our worship.
Other ministries of our Hospitality team include:
- Coffee Barristas: A team of parishioners who prepare for fellowship each Sunday, making coffee, lemonade, and treats, setting the table for a feast of fellowship and sharing. One parishioner brings his offering of pastries from a bakery as his gift to all. To participate in this ministry contact Ann Bacot Edwards.
- New Member Class: A welcome for all who have become new members, a chance to meet others— longtime or new, ask questions and learn about who we are as a parish.
- Reception Coordinator: Each year, we celebrate our newest confirmands and our newest members with receptions between services. If you like to cook, bake, or set a pretty table, contact Anne- Marie Poulton.
- Ushers: These are our “first line” of hospitality, welcoming all…long-timers and newcomers…into each service as an agent of the Lord. To participate, contact Pam Ward.
